From an underground electronic project in 1999 to a Montana indie label with a fair-deal philosophy — this is where sOdEeP mUsIc comes from, and where it's going.
Before there was a label, there was a project. In 1998, Jumalatar took shape inside the Brutal Art Soundlab — a transatlantic creative collaboration between the sOdEeP mUsIc founder, Montana-based producer Michael Gilboe (Copperhead Production), and Finnish electronic musician Perza Arhola.
The sound they built together pulled from every corner of late-90s electronic music: House, Trance, vocal pop. Multiple mix versions on a single release — one version for club DJs, one for radio, one for home listening. That kind of deliberate crossover thinking wasn't an accident. It was craft.
"A transatlantic collaboration — US meets Finland — fusing house, trance, and pop into something that crossed every room it entered."
The project was registered under Rainfall Blue Music / ASCAP. Publishing paperwork filed. Royalties tracked. This was a professional operation from day one.
The debut dropped on June 29, 1999. CD Maxi on Indulge U Records, also pressed on vinyl. Thirty-two minutes of music across nine tracks. Co-written by D. Delich, M. Gilboe, and P. Arhola across every track.
The tracks found their way into Gap store playlists and radio rotations across Denver and Seattle. Live shows followed in Atlanta and Las Vegas. In 1999, that wasn't nothing — that was real traction.
Twenty-four years after the original release, the Jumalatar catalog was professionally remastered. Not archived — actively remastered and re-released. That decision says something: this music was worth keeping alive.
The remastered collection is live across Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, and more. The original 1999 CD Maxi and vinyl are still documented on Discogs. History preserved, sound improved.
In March 2024, "Callin' out for Your Mother" dropped. Montana-made. Independent. Available on 7 major platforms. This wasn't a comeback — it was a continuation, built on 25+ years of knowing how to make music and how to move it.
sOdEeP mUsIc is a Montana-based indie label operating out of the 406. The ethos is simple: fair deals, real music, genre fusion. No one-sided contracts. No corporate math. Just artists working with a label that's been on both sides of the table and built something different because of it.
